East Bengal Women Storm to 12–0 Win Over Rovers FC
East Bengal FC Women delivered another spectacular performance in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026–27 Preliminary Stage, thrashing Guam’s Rovers FC 12–0 at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, on Thursday. The result followed their impressive 4–0 victory over Bangladesh’s Rajshahi Stars, leaving East Bengal with 16 goals scored and none conceded after two Group A matches.
Priyangka Devi Naorem opened the scoring in the 6th minute and doubled the advantage in the 22nd, while Astam Oraon struck in the 15th minute to give the Red & Gold a commanding 3–0 lead at half-time.
East Bengal turned the game into a rout after the interval. Olivia Anokye scored twice (48’, 58’), with Abigail Antwi (49’), Sulanjana Raul (51’), Shilky Devi Hemam (56’), Abena Anoma Opoku (64’, 70’) and Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam (73’) also finding the net. Soumya Guguloth completed the 12-goal demolition in the third minute of stoppage time.
The emphatic victory highlighted the depth, attacking quality and collective strength of Anthony Andrews’ squad, with nine different players getting on the scoresheet. East Bengal will now face hosts Sabah FA on August 23 at 5:30 PM IST, with the result set to decide the Group A winner and determine who progresses to the next stage of the competition.
