East Bengal Make History, Qualify for AFC Women’s Champions League Quarter-finals Despite 0–2 Defeat

KOLKATA, 7 November 2026: East Bengal FC created history by becoming the first Indian club to qualify for the knockout stages of the AFC Women’s Champions League, despite losing 0–2 to DPR Korea’s 4.25 SC in their final Group B match at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan.

Han Jin-hong (2′) gave 4.25 SC an early lead, while Oh Sol-song (43′) doubled the advantage just before half-time. East Bengal could not find a breakthrough in the second half.

4.25 SC topped Group B with nine points, followed by Hwacheon KSPO WFC with six. East Bengal advanced as one of the two best third-placed teams across the three groups, with their crucial 2–1 victory over Ho Chi Minh City WFC proving decisive.

Having narrowly missed the quarter-finals last season on goal difference, the Indian Women’s League champions have now secured a historic place among Asia’s last eight.

The quarter-final draw will take place on December 3 in Kuala Lumpur, with East Bengal unseeded and potentially facing defending champions Naegohyang Women’s FC, PFC Nasaf or Melbourne City FC. The quarter-finals are scheduled for March 27–28, 2027.

Despite the defeat, the Moshal Girls have made history for East Bengal and Indian women’s football! ❤️💛
