East Bengal kicked off the Super Cup with a victory, defeating Hyderabad FC 3-2 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The entire match showcased East Bengal’s dominance, particularly with a spectacular performance from captain Cleiton Silva, who scored three goals.

Right from the start, East Bengal, led by aggressive players like Cleiton and Nandakumar, initiated an attacking style of play. Within 8 minutes, Nandakumar’s shot hit the post, narrowly missing an early lead. However, Cleiton took charge in the 33rd minute, scoring a brilliant goal with a precise shot from Rakip’s cross, putting East Bengal ahead.

The second half continued with East Bengal’s aggressive approach. In the 53rd minute, Cleiton once again scored, this time from a fantastic free-kick, extending the lead. Despite Hyderabad FC’s attempts to retaliate, East Bengal maintained control.

Hyderabad FC managed to narrow the gap in the 77th minute, earning a penalty. Goalkeeper Subrata Paul’s left dive wasn’t enough to stop Laxmikant Kattimani’s powerful header from a corner, pulling one back for Hyderabad.

However, East Bengal swiftly responded, securing their third goal. Souvik Chakrabarti’s strong header from a Borja corner left Hyderabad FC with no chance of a comeback. Despite a late attempt by Hyderabad’s Golkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani, the team couldn’t overturn the result.

This victory not only marked East Bengal’s triumphant start in the Super Cup but also showcased their potential in the tournament. The spirited performance left fans hopeful for a promising Super Cup campaign.
