East Bengal FC kicked off their Indian Super League (ISL) 2026–27 title defence in emphatic fashion, registering a commanding 4–0 victory over Churchill Brothers on Sunday.
Dani Ramirez, Edmund Lalrindika and Bipin Singh Thounaojam were the stars of the night, with Bipin scoring twice to complete a convincing win for the Red and Gold Brigade.
Ramirez opened the scoring within just two minutes, curling a superb left-footed free-kick into the net. East Bengal doubled their advantage in the final minute of the first half when Edmund Lalrindika finished clinically from David Lalhlansanga Hmar’s assist.
Churchill Brothers showed promising passing and created opportunities, but their lack of finishing proved costly. Their best chance came in the 17th minute when John Okoli’s effort struck the woodwork.
East Bengal maintained a disciplined defensive shape after the break before Bipin Singh sealed the contest with two late goals. He made it 3–0 in the 85th minute with a fine left-footed finish following Ake Arnaud Loba’s pass. Five minutes later, he completed his brace by converting P.V. Vishnu’s cross after a swift counterattack.
The emphatic victory gives East Bengal maximum points and an ideal start to their ISL campaign. They will next travel to Pune to face Inter Kashi on 23 October, while Churchill Brothers will host Punjab FC on 25 October.
