East Bengal FC 2-1 Inter Kashi FC

East Bengal Crowned Champions of India 🏆🔴🟡

A historic night unfolded at the packed Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan as East Bengal FC scripted one of the greatest comebacks in club history, defeating Inter Kashi FC 2-1 to lift the Indian Super League 2025-26 title and become Champions of India.

The victory marked East Bengal’s maiden ISL title and their first national league triumph in over two decades, sparking emotional celebrations among thousands of Red & Gold supporters across Kolkata and beyond.

First Half – Inter Kashi Shock The Hosts

The title-deciding clash began at a frantic pace with East Bengal enjoying the majority of possession in front of a roaring home crowd. However, Inter Kashi stunned the stadium in the 15th minute with a brilliantly worked counter-attacking move.

David Munoz delivered a pinpoint cross from deep inside Kashi’s half, finding Alfred Planas making a dangerous run behind the East Bengal defence. Planas connected first-time with a stunning volley that sailed over goalkeeper Gill and into the back of the net, silencing the partisan crowd as Inter Kashi took a 1-0 lead.

Despite dominating possession afterwards, East Bengal struggled to break through Kashi’s organised defensive setup before halftime.

Second Half – The Champions Rise

Knowing the title was slipping away, East Bengal returned after the break with renewed urgency and intensity. The equaliser finally arrived in the 50th minute through the ever-reliable Youssef Ezzejjari.

Anwar Ali produced a magnificent defence-splitting pass from deep inside East Bengal’s half to release Ezzejjari through on goal. The Moroccan striker showed incredible composure as he nutmegged the advancing goalkeeper Shubham Dhas, fought off recovering defenders, and calmly slotted the ball into an empty net to make it 1-1.

The goal transformed the atmosphere inside the stadium as East Bengal supporters erupted with belief once again.

With momentum fully on their side, the Red & Gold Brigade continued to pile pressure on Inter Kashi. Their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when the decisive moment arrived.

Bipin Singh delivered a dangerous left-footed cross from the right flank into the box, and Rashid timed his run perfectly before stretching out a foot to guide the ball into the far corner. The stadium exploded into absolute pandemonium as East Bengal completed the comeback and took a 2-1 lead.

Overcome with emotion, Rashid climbed the barricade to celebrate wildly with the supporters and received a yellow card — one he certainly did not mind on such a historic evening.

Final Whistle – History Created

The final whistle triggered unforgettable scenes of celebration as players, coaching staff, and fans came together to celebrate East Bengal FC’s greatest achievement in the modern era.

After years of heartbreak, rebuilding, and near misses, East Bengal were finally crowned Indian Super League champions. The triumph symbolised resilience, determination, and the unwavering passion of one of India’s biggest football institutions.
