East Bengal FC Beat South United 5–0 in Dominant Durand Cup Display

Kolkata, August 7, 2026: East Bengal FC produced a commanding performance in their final Group A match of the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup, defeating South United FC 5–0 to keep their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals alive.

East Bengal started brightly and took the lead in the 6th minute through a stunning long-range strike from Dani Ramirez. The Red and Gold Brigade continued to dominate possession and create chances, with their pressure rewarded again in the 24th minute, when captain Mohamad Basim Rashid headed home from a corner delivered by Ramirez.

Holding a comfortable 2–0 lead at half-time, East Bengal maintained their attacking momentum after the break. Hardik Bhatt extended the advantage in the 73rd minute with a powerful effort from distance. Bipin Singh then added the fourth in the 81st minute, heading home from close range.

East Bengal completed the rout in stoppage time when David Lalhlansanga found the net in the 90+5th minute with a powerful left-footed finish.

The emphatic 5–0 victory saw East Bengal finish their group-stage campaign with six points and an impressive +11 goal difference, keeping them firmly in contention for a place in the Durand Cup quarter-finals. The performance was also a strong statement of intent from the Kolkata giants as they look ahead to the knockout stage.
